"Break Free" follows to unlikely rivals who end up becoming co-captains of one of the most popular competitive cheer and dance teams in the country. Former Olympic silver medalist, Kyla Castillo enrolls to Justice Valley High for a chance to be on the popular Jaguars team, and head cheerleader, Rion Hall, who happens to be one of the most popular girls in school is excited to have her at first, that is until she she's her ex-boyfriend, bad biker up and coming rock star, Richie talking to her.
The two girls may have differences, but must try their best to work together in order to win the state championship. Drama quickly follows when Rion tries to secretly get Kyla kicked off the team. Joining them is Aisha who is a cheerleader who befriends Kyla and is best friends with Rion. Stevie, who is a bit of a tomboy and is in a band with Richie, and Jeff, he plays on the basketball and football team that the girls cheer for and can be a bit slow at times but is best friends with Kyla and secretly develops a crush on her.
The pilot would show Kyla moving to the school, meeting the girls. Rion is thrilled to have her at first and make her one of them, but then she realizes Richie was flirting with her and starts to not like her. After the big dance number audition Rion starts to go a little hard on her, because she's good. Richie invites her to this popular cafe where he performs with her and she meets Jeff would starts to have a crush on her but notices Richie's attraction to her. Kyle meets Stevie who is a bit rough around the edges but realizes she is really nice when she helps Richie and Zanders go green petition. Aisha takes her on a tour of the city and lets her know about the guys. Sorry if it's kind of not detailed, but i kind of already explained the pilot pitch in the pitch for the series XD
Musical pilot (3 songs)
“Bo$$” (part of it anyway) by Fifth Harmony: This song will be played after Rion and Aisha give her a tour of the city and the school and let Kyla know a lot of the boys are dogs and that she should be the best she can be, it's a big dance number :)
“Last 1 Standing” by Max Schneider: This song will be sung by Richie and Kyla (back-ups by Stevie), after her first day, Richie tells Kyla to meet him at a spot downtown, she thinks it’s some sort of date, but really is an invite to watch Richie’s band play at a local bar, he then calls her up on stage in the middle of the song to sing along.
“Break Free” by Ariana Grande: This song will be sung by Kyla and Rion (who has a solo in the episode performance), not only in the theme song, but at the end of the episode when Kyla convinces Richie to come to the basketball team to watch them cheer during half time. After Rion notices Richie paying attention to Kyla, she begins to sing it and we learn that Richie broke up with Kyla because she was kind of mean and that Rion possibly still has feelings for Richie.
The first season would be picked up for 16 episodes :)
Hopefully the premiere could be an hour long too? :D
I love this pitch and the cast! I'm excited for the show!
But as I said before "wasn't she going to do casting for the characters other than Kyla and Rion? Just to get other options?" Is this still happening or is the cast staying as it is? I also think we should hold off on this show a bit and we shouldn't air it yet. I think we should get through EMW first and other shows and then we can focus on this show.
yeah I agree Matt, EMW has to premiere first lol and yeah ill still hold auditions, but only for the other roles. The series was created for Chesney and Percilla. but then again i really only need two roles tbh but hey if you guys want? :D
also thank you sooooo much everyone :D im so thankful for all of your support and everything :D
Okay, question guys :) Thank yo uall for supporting the show and series, and I was thinking about shows like glee for a second, since they are a lot of musical performances (not all would be the whole song, but since their are quiet a few) would it be okay if the episodes were an hour long? I want you guys honest feedback, we dont really have any shows that are right now, but since the first season is only picked up for 16 would that be okay?
The plot of the pilot would also stay the same, but here's more detail -
The pilot would show Kyla moving to the school, meeting the girls. Kyle meets Stevie who is a bit rough around the edges but realizes she is really nice when she helps Richie and Stevie's go green petition. Rion quickly sees that Richie and Kyla may have a possible connection and at the end of the episode they perform Break Free cheering for a game between their school and a rival school. During the episode Kyla gets hit on by some mean jocks, Aisha then pulls her away and takes Kyla on a tour of the school, and city while performing "BOSS" where she basically is letting her know that some of the guys are pigs and dont let them get to her, during the performance they segway back to school when they are practicing for the big game at the end of the episode.
lol i feel like we are an axtual channel XD im telling you, someone (maybe me so no one steal it) should make a show about a high school student who is upset that his/her favorite show is cancelled and goes to the company and tells them that the current shows don't reflect real life and the kid is given co-owner ship of the channel and balances it with school XD true jackson vp meets wiki channel XD lol idk tha was random but any who? what do you guys think of the pilot?
Lol, love it! I'm so excited for this show. One thing is I just don't think they should perform at a game against their rival school, I think that'd be too much like EMW since the lead stars are from that movie and it's already a lot like it. I think it should just be a regular school and they're up against, not necessarily their rivals. I'm also a little iffy on the hour long thing. Maybe the pilot itself can be an hour long but I'm not sure about every episode. But if you feel like you have to, you can do that! Also, how many songs are you thinking of putting into each episode? And is this show single camera (no laugh track) or multi camera (laugh track)?

OMG yes! Seriously sometimes I just think of the movies or shows here and I imagine how amazing they'd be as real movies/shows! All the time I listen to East Meets West songs and I just imagine how the scene would be and everything about it and I get excited because I have this amazing looking scene in my head and like I get so emotional because I wish it was a real thing. :P I'm a sensitive guy, really I am. :P
That's what I was wondering, it's very rare some single camera comedies have a laugh track (like "the game" when it got moved to BET it ebcame a single camera but it also had a laugh track) and i wanted it to be an hour because shows like victorious and how torock are 30 minutes and have room for one song, where shows like glee have an hour long and have up to 4-5 songs, however i wanted to have at least 3 songs per episode, and if it needed to be a none laugh track than idk, i kinda thought it should have one though, it's still a comedy? ya know
3 songs is a bit much, don't you think? Maybe you can have an average of 2 per episode and then some will have 3 here and there and on very rare occasions, some could have just 1? You could also do reprises of songs in different episodes. I just think 3 per episode is a lot if we're doing original music here. I don't think it should have a laugh track, that's just me, I feel like the laugh track would kind of get in the way. Ya know how Neds Declassified was a comedy but it didn't have a laugh track, it just had a lot of sound effects to make it funny? Make we can do that kind of thing here (but less sound effects). Also, one hour per ep should be okay. :)
and Yeah, well that's what I'm saying if the episodes are an hour long, i think three songs could be fine, of course some episodes would have 2 and some maybe even just one, that's why i wanted to do the season for 16 or even 18? just because it's a lot of music and maybe an episode wouldn't even have a new song, maybe like you said a reprise? so how about 2? and 3 for like premieres finales or specials?
and also keep in mind that not every song would be a song by the cast, sometimes it could be a hit song by a wiki records artist that is used during a dance off, dance routine or performance (similar to how they did sometimes in shake it up) :)
